Maintain Your Warranty

A lot of people will pay ‘extra money’ for the carpet with ‘the better warranty.’ If you leave out of the store thinking you did the right thing by throwing money at the problem, then you may be shocked a couple of years later to hear that you have no warranty at all.

You see, manufacturers are good at making a big deal about their great warranties but they aren’t good at making a big deal about the steps you need to take to protect it. They leave that up to the resellers (usually carpet retailers). But the resellers want to make the sale too badly to bring up anything negative. Who knows, you might go next door where they don’t bother you with details like ‘Maintaining Your Warranty.’ As a result, most people don’t have a clue! When problems emerge, you have no protection.

Here’s some of the things people aren’t told:

1. You must keep your receipt and your Warranty information. That’s normal with all major purchases, but could you find your copy? I hope you kept your carpet sample!
2. You must make sure it was installed properly.  Would you know what ‘proper’ is?
3. You must take care for your carpet.  Did you know that even if you clean it yourself like clockwork, you will void your warranty within two years?

People are never told this stuff. If they were, they’d probably keep their money in their pocket and pick the carpet with ‘the lesser warranty.’  But who would benefit from that, other than you?

People want to do the right thing for their carpet, they just don't know what it is.

That’s why I started carpet at cost – to make sure you are aware of your obligations. With this information you won't inadvertently void your warranty.

Nowadays, some manufacturers are really getting sneaky. They know that most people won’t maintain their warranties, so they’re making ridiculous claims like 30 year stain resistance, just to get you to buy. If you can find a carpet with this kind of Warranty, BUY IT, then call me ASAP.   I’ll show you how to beat them at their own game. Truth is, the carpets that have these unbelievable claims are no better than carpets with 7 to 10 year warranties. Real-world data shows that very few 7-10 year carpets will last that long.  But I’ll show how to make it last twice that long (see the real cost of carpet). So Get that carpet! Go ahead and pay full retail because you’ll never have to buy another carpet for that house again.  Just follow their silly guidelines. Call me and I’ll walk you through it.

Pick out any average carpet (make sure it’s a practical selection) with the most outrageously generous Warranty you can find, then follow these three rules:

1. Do the right things at the time of the sale,

2. be there for the installation and do your own inspection, and

3. Care for it properly.

That's it.

Do these things and you will have maintained your warranty and they will be shocked. Not you!
